Built in the 19th century, the Turgenev House has been home to a number of prominent Russians, and takes its name from Ivan Turgenev who lived there between 1860 and 1883.
In a house formerly lived in by Turgenev and Tolstoy, this unique St Petersburg apartment is situated in a prime location overlooking the Fontanka River, only fifty yards from the famous Anichkov Bridge and Nevsky Prospekt.
Featured in numerous architectural and interiors magazines, this exquisite apartment was designed and furnished by the eminent Russian scholar and art historian John Stuart.
Stuart was amongst the first in St Petersburg to embark on the interior restoration of one of the many magnificent buildings in the city. In a Jonathan Dimbleby documentary for the BBC, it was described as a historical gem and one of the most sought after places to stay in St Petersburg.
With three bedrooms and an anteroom, the apartment sleeps seven. Guests are looked after by a housekeeper and cleaner, Lena and Lillia, who speak English, Russian and Italian. They are on-hand to help you explore our intriguing and beautiful city by organising sightseeing tours, arranging transportation, obtaining ballet and opera tickets, and securing restaurant reservations. Nothing is too difficult for them to organise.
Breakfast is provided in the inclusive daily rate. Lunch and dinner can also be provided by arrangement. The elegant and relaxing reception rooms are ideal for entertaining, and special arrangements can be made for receptions and larger dinner parties.
The apartment is the perfect place to stay with family or friends as you experience all that spectacular St Petersburg has to offer.
It should be noted that owing to the delicacy of many of the antiques, regrettably children under 12 years are not permitted. The apartment is non smoking. It is on the second floor and please be aware that there is no lift…
